It’s no secret my favorite drink on this planet is Dr Pepper. I’ve loved it since I was a kid. It’s my go to.
When I’m happy, I want a Dr Pepper.
When I’m sad, I want a Dr Pepper.
When I’m disappointed, upset or mad … yup, you guessed it, Dr Pepper.
We were always allowed to have soda as as a kid. Primarily on special occasions, but they were in the house quite often. We were a house divided, my mom love Dr Pepper and my dad loved Coke. Dad never went for the sweetness or crossed over to the Dr Pepper side. He still to this day calls it that nasty prune juice drink.
Dr Pepper is not only my drink of choice, but there are specific ways I like to enjoy my Dr Pepper. First drink of choice, fountain Dr Pepper from Chick-fil-A. It is, by far, the best Dr Pepper in my home town. Do you want to know why? It’s because their water is filtered three times. Do you want to know how I know this? It’s because I’ve had multiple conversations with the owner/operator of the Chick Fil A about said Dr Pepper.
If I’m at home, my Dr Pepper must be cold. If I think ahead enough, I’ll put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes before I’m actually ready to drink it so it’s the perfect cold. You can never, and I repeat never, put a Dr Pepper that is room temperature over ice. This will yield a watered down mess of a Dr Pepper. Last, Dr. Pepper is best enjoyed with a straw. I think it’s because it accents the fizzies as they hit your mouth. But I love it that way.
I might have a problem. And I might need intervention. But I am convinced, until the day I die, I will enjoy a refreshing ice cold fountain Dr Pepper. It will brighten my day, wash away my sorrows, and be a fun conversation piece for years to come.
During the #Write31days challenge, I have taken time to write, daily, about things that matter to me. In my effort to share my heart with you, I’ve talked about people that I love, and written about a few different things. Each day I ask the Lord what I’m supposed to write about, and I do just that. Occasionally, I’ll throw in some fun things like my heart for Dr Pepper, just so you can know me and I can share the everyday things too. I have some exciting things coming I can’t wait to share about.
Until then, I hope you’ve enjoyed the last 12 days of writing. Correction, 11 days. I did take one day off to take care of some things that needed to be done. There’s no shame in that game. I am committed to this writing challenge for me, and for you.
Here’s to the weekend, enjoying every moment, because every moment matters. Even the moments when we enjoy a nice, cold, fountain Dr Pepper with a skinny straw.
I’d love to hear about your favorite drink! Share in the comments and I’ll pick one person to get a gift card for your favorite drink of choice! Better than that, if you’re local, let’s meet at chick-Fil-a for a Dr Pepper! Love you guys!
